| 2010 Seniors GamesThe 2010 BC Seniors Games will be held in Comox/Campbell River Sept 15-18. Hopefully we will have a large contingent from our zone who will be able to attend and compete. As the cost to travel to the Island is considerably more than to some closer locations, we encourage participants to look at money saving options such as car pooling, accommodation sharing and checking out bed & breakfast choices. Also there are senior ferry rates and quite often airline seat sales that end up being cheaper than vehicle travel. If you are interested in carpooling, please contact us and we may be able to organize groups to travel together.
Transportation - as the games will be held in two communities approximately 40 km apart, you are advised to book your accommodation close to your sport venue as there will be no shuttle service between the communities except between the airport and hotels, and the opening & closing ceremonies and banquet. For a list of venues and accommodations, click on the host logo in the top right corner of the seniors games web site.
Registration - if you are interested in participating in the games, please contact the sport coordinator in your sport (listed below) as soon as possible. You will need to buy a $15 membership to try out for one or more events. For the one fee you may try out in more than one sport, but then must choose only one to participate in at the games. Once you are successful in qualifying there will be a $50 registration fee which will pay for your participation in the event, lunches, entrance to the banquet and all entertainment. Certain sports will require an extra fee e.g. green fees, ice fees etc. Those not participating, but wishing to receive lunches, and attend the banquet and other entertainment will need to pay the $15 membership fee plus a $35 non-participant fee. There is no fee for anyone to attend any of the competitions. Dates for qualifying playdowns are listed below with all being completed by June 30. All registrations must be forwarded to the registrar by July 5 in order to be entered in the system by July 15. After July 15 the only refunds paid will be those due to injuries or unforeseen circumstances.

| Volunteers NeededLike most organizations we always need volunteers. Whether you have just a few hours annually to spare (and meet some great people) or have a few hours a month throughout the spring and summer, we would love to have your help. If your interest is in a particular sport we could use you to recruit & be a contact for interested participants for that sport. If you have a little more time & energy we also need overall area and zone sports coordinators to schedule playoffs and collect registrations. If you like convincing people to improve their health and social life, we could use your talents distributing brochures and recruiting members, and if you are able to convince people to support the games in a monetary manner, we could use your fundraising talents and ideas. The Society also has a sponsorship and partnership program for donations of $500 or more. For more information click on "Partner" on this site.
For more information on volunteering, please email us at sylin@netbistro.com
